Bamboo Toothbrush - Hydrophil
Hydrophil’s sustainable bamboo toothbrush not only looks great, it’s also a great choice for reducing plastic consumption.
The handle is made of particularly fast growing Moso bamboo, is biodegradable, and naturally antibacterial. During its two-year growth phase, Moso bamboo reaches a height of up to 20 metres. Artificial irrigation is not used in Hydrophil’s bamboo cultivation, nor are pesticides or other chemicals.
The bristles are made of castor oil, which is extracted from the plant, then processed into bio-nylon and is free of BPA and petroleum. The bristles are the perfect mix for thorough teeth cleaning and protection of gums. (Make sure you remove the bristles before putting the handle in your compost bin.)
Toothbrushes are one of the easiest switches to make to reduce plastic. Just think about how many plastic toothbrushes we’ve already used in our lifetime so far – they’ll still be on the planet long after we are…
When I need to replace my toothbrush, I keep the old one for cleaning (they’re particularly good for grout!) and only dispose of it when I really have to.
